MY CONTROVERSIAL UNDER EYE METHOD THAT WORKS
Okay, I’m going to say it: I hate traditional under eye concealer methods.
There, I said it.
The baking. The layering. The highlighting that somehow makes me look more tired. The creasing that shows up faster than my morning coffee. No thanks.
Most concealer techniques promise flawlessness but end up emphasizing every. single. fine line. Plus, they often don’t even cover the dark circles properly. It’s giving ghostly panda vibes—and not in a cute way.
So I threw out the rulebook and started doing things my own way. Is it controversial? Maybe. Does it work? Absolutely.
Here’s my tried-and-true under eye routine for coverage that looks natural, lasts all day, and doesn’t scream “Hi, I’m wearing a pound of product!”
STEP 1: Bronzer—but Only Around the Eyes
Yep, you read that right. Bronzer. First.
Instead of starting with a thick layer of concealer, I use bronzer around the lighter areas of my eyes—think top of the cheekbones, temples, and even a little over the brow bone. This balances out the lightness without making things look ghostly.
It subtly neutralizes that weird “bright under eye but the rest of your face is living in shadows” situation. Chef’s kiss.

STEP 2: A Darker Foundation Shade—Right on the Discoloration
Now here’s the juicy part. I use a darker foundation shade—like six shades darker than my base—directly on the blue/purple areas under my eyes.
Why? Because purple and blue sit across from orange and red on the color wheel. So using a deeper, warmer tone neutralizes those pesky under-eye hues way better than a light concealer ever could.
Instead of layering light on top of dark (which just turns grey), I cancel the dark first. Trust me—it’s science and magic.

STEP 3: Brighten Strategically (Not All Over!)
Last step? A touch of brightness—but only on the inner and outer corners of the eyes. Not across the whole under eye. Not in a giant triangle. Just the corners.
This subtle placement lifts the eye without overdoing it. You’ll look more awake, not more caked.

Final Thoughts: Ditch the Old Rules
This under eye method isn’t mainstream—but it should be.
It gives you: ✔ Natural-looking coverage
✔ No creasing or caking
✔ A smoother, more youthful finish
✔ That “wow, your skin looks amazing” effect
If you’re tired of feeling like your concealer is aging you, maybe it’s time to switch things up.
Controversial? Maybe. Effective? 100%.
